It began in 1977, quite unexpectedly. I was 40, married, six kids, and living in Clearwater, FL.  The travel company that hired me must have been desperate, I mean seriously, they were. They needed someone willing to escort groups to various destinations from a one-day shopping trip in Tampa to a seven-day Caribbean cruise. I said yes, and that's how it began.

It became more than just an escort job. A commissioned salesperson came next. That meant finding people to go on tours that I would escort, be paid commission and go FREE. That's how I began recruiting group tour 'leaders', people who would get their friends, and anyone interested in travel, to go on a tour or cruise. I gave that 'leader' a free trip for a certain number of people in their group.

I gave them free cruises for getting 15 people to go with them. On Motorcoach tours, they needed more, depending on the destination. I've given free tours to Switzerland, that one I gave two free tours to two organizers, and on a Hawaiian Cruise I had six free ones to give away.
